Heternormative Culture Promotes Subsistence Culture

This is a BLOG, not a PhD thesis. This is the OPINION of the author. Maybe someday I can back it up.

War comes and decimates the population. Afterwards, people live in fear of being wiped out entirely and their highest goal is having enough children to replace the people lost to war. And people behave in a homophobic fashion and the culture promotes the idea that we NEED more babies.

This may help the population count recover from the war but it creates a vicious cycle of poverty promoting crime and war.

In nature, there are two patterns of survival. One is produce a LOT of offspring to survive a high attrition rate. The other is produce few offspring and take excellent care of them so they have high survival rates.

Heternormative culture puts humanity in the first category and actively undermines development and quality of life created by the second approach. 

Illegality of homosexuality seems to roughly correlate to underdeveloped areas whose policies are driven by fear and ignorance. Being more tolerant of the LGBTQ crowd seems to correlate to wealthy, more educated places.

People seem to think prosperity and education promote liberal values and this results in tolerance. I think it runs the other direction: Tolerance promotes education and prosperity. 

In heternormative culture, the default view of women is their most productive role is as a wife and mom. She needs to be cooking,  cleaning and caring for a man and his children to be a productive member of society. 

This encourages families to not value dsughters who are experienced as a burden and another mouth to feed. If I recall correctly,  Marilyn Monroe was married off at age 16 to get rid of her, though she was beautiful and talented and eventually became a huge movie star.

My sister had fertility problems and worked at the Centers for Disease Control. She was a hard case and college educated with access to some of the best medical information on the planet.

She was trying to solve HER problem, so I suspect the information she routinely sent me for years met the highest possible standard.

1. Having a first baby seems to teach the body how to have children. Some women who require fertility treatments to have a first baby later have another child without intervention. 

2. The younger you are when you have your first child, the more children you have on average. 

3. Having children young, like in your teens, is associated with lower education rates in part because taking care of a child actively interferes with pursuing an education. 

4. Because of three above, having children young correlates to higher poverty rates and worse poverty. The younger you are when you have the first baby, the poorer you are likely to be for life.

Fear driven conservative cultures trend towards being harshly judgemental and punishing about sex outside of marriage and anything not "normal" penis in vagina heterosexual sex.

Because the real goal is to promote pregnancy. 

So enjoying sex, bonding with a partner, getting relief etc. are not only a liw priority, they are vilified as perverted ot dangerous. 

So even within a heterosexual relationship, you won't see a lot of oral sex or other forms of pleasuring each other. It defaults to wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

And our housing standards the world over default to heternormative homes designed for a nuclear family.  This defacto creates pressure on people to marry young to afford housing at all.

If two same sex partners can openly live together and get their sexual needs met without risk of pregnancy, it makes it possible for women to pursue education and careers and when women having those things is normal, it helps ALL women pursue education and careers by lowering social barriers to it.

I have LOTS more to say. I'm just trying to start somewhere so I can get my head wrapped around saying it.
