I bet White families aren't losing their home for ONE missed payment to the HOA.
Someone told me they knew someone who sold the same house three times and repossessed it repeatedly. Probably sold it to minority families. He did that because it was more profitable than renting it out.
There is a long history in the US of Black families being BLED for money to buy housing where they had to work two jobs to afford it, red lining etc.
People talk about reparations and nothing happens. Talk of reparations is pretending this SHIT has stopped and is in the past.
I can't help but feel like this would have gone differently if it were a stupid prank involving a White family.
Talk of Reparations is the Black American version of the metaphorization of decolonization AKA the Land Back movement.
The metaphorization of decolonization makes possible a set of evasions, or “settler moves to innocence”, that problematically attempt to reconcile settler guilt and complicity, and rescue settler futurity.
Fuck "reparations" for "offenses in the past." Black Americans need JUST treatment in the here and now, not nice-sounding empty promises for past hurts that explicitly pretend this bullshit is IN THE PAST.
Also, I don't want to hear appeals to ethics because 99.999999 percent of people have none.
In the 2006 film Our House, they changed lawyers and quit whining and crying and appealing to the goodness of people's hearts, found a legal loophole and began playing hard ball and said "You can do x or I file THIS. It's my way or the hard way."
