Catholicism Sucks

This is not a call for violence. It's a statement by a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by two relatives that I don't understand why the Catholic Church isn't seeing substantial strong reaction to the pedophile priests scandal, such as churches being burned down.

Priests are moral authorities whom you are supposed to be able to TRUST. Child sexual abuse is such a heinous, harmful crime I think if I grew up Catholic and were molested by a priest AND then the POPE justed moved him elsewhere to molest more kids, I would lose my shit.

I think I would either LEAVE the church or react violently in some way towards the church because of something so extremely morally offensive being done by an organization that sells itself as a moral authority.

And I'm not hearing that Catholics are quitting the church in droves in horrified reaction to this or anything of the sort.

A moral authority aiding and abetting child rapists strikes me as so thoroughly rotten to the core that I feel like it has to be just RUINING society in ways we aren't noticing.

To my mind, the only appropriate church response to learning a PRIEST is a child molester is defrocking and excommunication.

Even if that meant some churches had to be shut down. Because if your organization wants to be a moral authority, I see no means whatsoever to reconcile that with aiding and abetting child molesters among the ranks of your community leaders.
